University Partners

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus

The University of Colorado is one of the founding institutions of 2040 Partners for Health.  The University's commitment to health research offers an extraordinary opportunity to communities working to improve upon programs and policies related to well-being and effective healthcare systems.  Conversly, community initiatives and actions offer University staff a medium for community-based and translational research.  2040 Partners for Health strives to catalyze, communicate, and facilitate opportunities for Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) bringing together University researchers and community groups to accomplish outcomes that both add to general health knowledge and create changes in health and healthcare systems in our five neighborhood area. 2040 does this by:

  • Meeting with Potential Principle Investigators (PPI) to determine potential research studies.
  • Holding meetings between community members and University PPI's to determine research project viability and allow for cultural awareness to grow.
  • Providing training to researchers interested in understanding the opportunities presented by the CBPR method as well as how other forms of research (i.e. clinical) can contribute to community-wide interests.
  • Faciliating and providing support for active CBPR studies taking place in our five neighborhood area.

Within the University of Colorado System, 2040 has historicaly worked most closely with the Department of Family Medicine and the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI).  However, we are consistently looking to work in other areas of the University and welcome opportunities to meet with additional departments and researchers.

Other Universities

In addition to the University of Colorado, 2040 has worked with other University systems and looks forward to offering similar services and conversations with institutions dedicated to community well-being.  For example, we are currently working with a Regis University faculty member on a kids obesity project.
